"Dark Match" Damian Rojo April 15-May 21 - Opening Reception Friday April 15, 7-10pm Ingalls & Associates is proud to present DARK MATCH, new photographs by Damian Rojo from April 15th to May 21st with a reception for the artist on Friday, April 15th from 7-10pm. Esteemed artist and Miami native Damian Rojo has returned home after seven years in California. During his time on the west coast, Rojo was involved in a number of creative projects - including playing and touring with several bands, creating three dimensional sculptural works and his ongoing series of films and sound installations. Since re-establishing himself in Miami this year, Rojo, has embarked on a collaboration with a group of young wrestlers form the local Indie scene.  Born behind fences and garages of suburban sprawl, these adolescent males engage in a ritualistic engagement of competition and savagery. Dark Match is the culmination of months of documentation. Rojo's documentary BAG OF TEETH will be screened at the reception. These works are a privileged glimpse into the covert world of aspiring pro-wrestlers, featuring students and trainers from N.A.W.  ranging in age from early teens to the "old timers" in their mid-twenties.  Often suffering devastating injury, forsaking education and a social life, these young wrestlers pursue their quest for glory.  With film and photos  DARK MATCH explores the brutality, grace and determination of Indie Wrestlers.
